What is New Vantage?

Sentinel Security offers whole life insurance policies through a program called New Vantage.

Since Sentinel Security does not offer term life insurance, the policies Sentinel offers via New Vantage never expire. Additionally, the monthly premiums for the policies do not change.

New Vantage life insurance policies are available in three different tiers based on an individual’s health.

Sentinel Security prides itself on allowing some individuals coverage that other insurance plans might have turned away through its highest tier of New Vantage coverage.

In addition to being able to lock down life insurance rates for a lifetime, New Vantage policies also allow policyholders to assign a certain percentage or amount of funds from their policy directly to a funeral home.

How do New Vantage tiers work?

New Vantage comes in tiers I, II, and III. The first tier, New Vantage I, is the most affordable and is offered to individuals who are considered to be in good health at the time they apply.

With New Vantage I, a policy will provide immediate coverage.

New Vantage II is offered to individuals who have minor or moderate health concerns. With this option, only 30% of a policy will be paid if a policyholder dies within the first year of coverage.

If a policyholder dies within the second year of coverage, 70% of the benefits will be paid. Once a policyholder has had a policy for three years or more, the full amount of benefits will be paid.

Under the third tier of coverage, New Vantage III will only pay back premiums plus 10% interest if a policyholder dies within the first two years.

Similar to the second tier, under New Vantage III the full amount of benefits will be paid once a policyholder has been covered for at least three years.

What are Sentinel Security’s life insurance rates?

Sentinel Security life insurance rates vary depending on several different factors.

Because Sentinel Security life insurance is offered in three different tiers. Individuals in New Vantage I will receive lower rates for coverage amounts than individuals in higher tiers.

Rates are also affected by a person’s age and other health considerations.

While Sentinel Security does not offer access to potential rates online, the chart below offers an idea of what typical rates look like based on age and benefits.

What is Sentinel Life’s hospital indemnity plan?

Sentinel Security Life offers Hospital Advantage, which fills the existing health insurance gaps that would otherwise be an individual’s responsibility to pay.

Unlike other plans, Sentinel Security’s Hospital Advantage pays the policyholder directly, allowing them to use the money as they need it.

Sentinel Security Financial Strength Ratings

A.M. Best has given Sentinel Security a B++ (good) rating with regard to financial strength. The company cites Sentinel’s rapid growth in fixed annuity sales as the major reason for this rating.

The Better Business Bureau has given Sentinel an A+ rating, but customer reviews on the BBB website rate the company at just two out of five stars.

Most customer reviews mention difficulty getting in touch with Sentinel representatives and having their questions answered.

Sentinel Annuity options

Along with whole life insurance, Medicare supplement, and hospital indemnity plan, Sentinel Security offers several different annuity options including:

  • Guaranteed income
  • Retirement plus multiplier
  • Accumulation protector plus
  • Personal choice
  • Personal choice plus
  • Summit bonus index

Sentinel Security prides itself on offering customizable plans that benefit its customers.

Each of Sentinel’s annuities offers policyholders helpful options for a fixed stream of income they can count on after retirement or due to other circumstances.

Not all annuity plans are available in all states, so it is important to check with your individual state agents to discover what options may be available to you.

Is Sentinel right for you?

Sentinel Security offers life insurance without much of a gamble. Rates will never increase and benefits will never decrease throughout the policy.

If you find yourself in New Vantage II or III, your beneficiaries will not receive 100% of the benefits if you die within the first two years of your policy.

Additionally, customer reviews indicate discontentment with the company when it comes to reliability and communication.

The bottom line is that you should never commit to one company for an insurance policy until you have taken the time to shop around and find the best options for you.

Before you buy Sentinel Security life insurance, you need to research other companies that may be a better fit for your budget or lifestyle.
