What insurance products does Monumental offer?

Under its new name Transamerica, Monumental sells whole life insurance, term life insurance, universal life insurance, indexed universal life insurance, and final expense insurance.

Because it is not a mutual company, it does not pay policyholders any dividends.

Both individual and group whole life policies are available. Individuals can purchase between $25,000 to $2 million worth of coverage, with an accessible cash value component.

Clients have two different term policies to choose from, lasting from 10 to 30 years, separated by 5-year increments: Trendsetter Super Series and Trendsetter LB.

The Trendsetter Super policy is a convertible term policy providing coverage up to $10 million.

If you outlive the term, you can choose to convert the policy to permanent life insurance without undergoing a medical exam, depending on a few health questions on the application.

The Trendsetter LB policy covers up to $2 million and provides living benefits. Options include an accelerated death benefit if you come down with a qualifying chronic or terminal illness.

There are also two universal life insurance policies available through Monumental under the Transamerica name.

The Transamerica Financial Foundation Index Universal Life Insurance policy (FFIUL) accumulates value based on a basic interest account or two index accounts.

The cash value can be accessed in retirement if needed, and the monthly premiums are flexible.

A group universal life insurance policy for employers to offer to employees is also available.

Finally, the company also sells three different final expense insurance options:

  • Immediate Solution: The age range for applying is 0 to 85, with life paid-up at age 121. Those 55 and under receive a maximum death benefit of $50,000. Ages 56 to 65 maximum is $40,000; 66 to 75 have a maximum of $30,000; and 76 to 85 have a maximum of $25,000.
  • 10-Pay Solution: The age limits and maximum death benefits match the Immediate Solution policy, but the premium is payable for only ten years.
  • Easy Solution: This policy has a graded death benefit for the first two years. You must be between 18 and 80 years old, or 50 to 75 in New York, to be approved. The maximum death benefit is $25,000.

For all final expense policies, the minimum death benefit is $1,000.

According to the company website, your age and health may not impact your approval in some cases.

There’s also no waiting period associated with two of the three end-of-life policies and no increase in premiums only due to age.

What is the history of the Monumental Life Insurance Company?

Monumental Insurance goes back to 1858, originally called the Mutual Life Insurance Company of Baltimore.

Initially, the company sold life and fire insurance policies.

In 2014, Transamerica Premier Life Insurance Company integrated Monumental Life and officially changed the company name, but not the service or support clients had come to know and trust.
